Bayer Chairman, Werner Wenning, is to step down earlier than planned.
Bayer said Norbert Winkeljohann will succeed Mr. Wenning after the company’s annual meeting on April 28. Mr. Wenning championed the 2018 acquisition of U.S. agricultural giant Monsantothat tipped Bayer into one of its worst crisis in its 156-year history.
The replacement of Mr. Wenning a company veteran of over 50 years, comes as the chemical and pharmaceutical company is under pressure to resolve a high-stakes legal contest over Roundup which over 42,000 plaintiffs allege causes cancer.
