PJC Organic recognizes that these are anxious and uncertain times. There are a lot of unknowns regarding essential services during Covid-19.
On March 20, 2020, Connecticut Governor, Ned Lamont issued issued a “stay home, stay safe” order that allows people to go outside, but recommends they keep their distance from others. All non-essential workers statewide are being directed to work from home.
Landscaping services are deemed essential services necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation and essential operations of all residences and other buildings (including services necessary to secure and maintain non-essential workplaces) in item 10 Business Exemptions for Coronavirus – Executive Order 7H .
Today Massachusetts Governor, Charlie Baker issued a similar order closing all non-essential businesses by Tuesday, March 24 at noon. Governor Baker’s order has similar verbage to the CT order with respect to COVID-19 Essential Services: “Workers such as plumbers, electricians, exterminators, inspectors and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences, construction sites and projects, and needed facilities.” While landscape services are not explicitly mentioned in Governor Baker’s Order, it is our understanding that landscape services are considered essential.
