CAUTION: Pesticide Application
Peter Newcombe

CAUTION: those little yellow pesticide application flags are starting to pop up everywhere.  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that homeowners and commercial lawn care companies use over 140 million pounds of toxic pesticides annually. This is all in pursuit of the perfect lawn.

There is growing concern regarding the effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on the health of people, pets, and our environment. Chemicals leach into the soil and runoff into our water supplies. The flags chemical fertilizer companies must leave behind once implied that it was safe to go back on the lawn after 24 – 72 hours. This timeframe was questioned by the EPA. As a result, the timeframe of that claim has been removed from flags. Truthfully, the product has only evaporated from the turf surface after 72 hours. Toxins continue to be present in the soil up to another 14 DAYS! Subsequently, residue ends up in your local waterways and beyond.

After applying PJC products, turf is ready to be played on immediately! So, when we say our organic fertilizer is all-natural we mean it!

Beyond Pesticides is a great organization that works to protect public health and the environment. They are part of pioneering the transition to a world free of toxic pesticides. Therefore, they promote healthy air, water, land, and food for ourselves and future generations. This organization provides useful information on pesticides and alternatives to their use.
