Fortunately, much of the Northeast is not experiencing the drought conditions we have had to deal with in recent years. As you can see from the U.S. Drought Monitor, there are pockets of abnormally dry areas on Massachusetts North Shore. The NH seacoast is in a moderate drought while areas to the west crossing into the border of Vermont are also abnormally dry. Then, as one goes south, larger areas of NJ, PA, MD are abnormally dry with West Virginia under the greatest drought pressure.

Accordingly, it’s reasonable to expect good to great conditions for over-seeding over much of the Northeast this fall. Also, I would suspect that grubs have not delayed their egg laying. As such, it would be reasonable to begin scouting for grubs around the end of August.
